December 30th, 5:30pm - 8pm at SALTT, an Austin Black-owned restaurant.

Join us at Saltt for a Karamu Feast filled with warmth, shared stories, and the vibrant spirit of African-American culture. More than a meal, it’s a celebration of heritage, unity, and community!

As part of the event, we are hosting a Black Elephant gift exchange! Bring a purchased gift from a local Black-owned business tailored to your age group. Anyone participating in the exchange should provide a gift. All are welcome!

A FEAST
OF FAITH

The Karamu Feast, held on the sixth night of Kwanzaa, celebrates Kuumba (Creativity) and brings family, friends, and community together to honor African heritage and shared values. Rooted in African harvest traditions, it’s a time to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and look to the future with hope.

More than a meal, the feast is rich with symbolism. Tables are adorned with Kwanzaa elements like the kinara, mishumaa saba (seven candles), and harvest fruits. Traditional African-inspired dishes are shared alongside storytelling, music, and performances that celebrate culture. The Karamu Feast highlights unity, gratitude, and community, fostering deeper connections and a renewed commitment to Kwanzaa’s principles.
